Prelude    2012

     for violin, piano and organ

Music for the church has always been a near and dear part of my life.  If a church has an organ, it is not too great a leap to assume it has a piano.  I have performed many organ and piano duets.  I strongly desired to write this piece to pair the piano and organ with a soprano instrument.  It was a special challenge to me to balance the delicate violin with the organ.

This piece is intended to be paired with other pieces of music (to be written) to complete an entire service with music that shares the same themes.  Though a hymn-like melody frequents the prelude, it is not a reference to any particular hymn or season.  This way the service music is more versatile.
