Witch’s Brew    2004

     for solo piano

It was once said to me during my high school years that it seemed as if every song I composed was in a minor key.  This generally proved to be true.  When I started “Witch’s Brew,” my goal was to write a more advanced piece that featured a contrasting mix of various pianistic and compositional techniques.  After I finished the piece, I even wrote a short story in which every section of the song was reminiscent either of an ingredient in the brew or a scene from the story (the dark, cloud-shrouded midnight moon, the pot gurgling, the climax as process was almost complete).
